Nishanth Somashekara Murthy: A Leader in Cooperative Living
Nishanth, a Doctoral student in Electrical Engineering at the University of Minnesota, serves as the President of our Chateau Community Housing Co-op board. His efforts to collaborate with other local co-ops and actively participate in community betterment initiatives exemplify the true spirit of cooperative living. Nishanth's commitment to learning and sharing knowledge is further demonstrated through his active participation in education and workshops hosted by the North American Students of Cooperation (NASCO).
As an international student balancing academic pursuits with community involvement, Nishanth faces unique challenges. The Riverton Community Housing Grant will provide him with the necessary support to focus on his education and invest in capacity-building initiatives that will benefit our communities. Lexi Olson: A Champion of Sustainability and Community Engagement
Lexi, a student in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota, is a dedicated member of our Chateau Community Housing Co-op board. Her innovative efforts to improve recycling and implement composting programs exemplify the true spirit of cooperative living and environmental responsibility. As the coordinator of the recycling committee, Lexi has revamped the recycling system to emphasize education and objectivity, creating a more sustainable and informed community.
In addition to her local community work, Lexi actively participates in volunteer opportunities throughout the Twin Cities, further demonstrating her commitment to positive change. Her dedication to education and community engagement strengthens the co-op movement as a whole. The Riverton Community Housing Grant will provide Lexi with valuable opportunities to further her education and pursue her goals in sustainability.
